Saturday, April 20, 2013
Author: Brigid Kemmerer
Genre/s:Young Adult, Paranormal Fantasy, Romance
Synopsis:

Being a force of nature doesn't keep you safe. Hunter Garrity is used to watching his back. The kids at school sense something different about him. And they're right.

Hunter has powers that have nothing to do with how hard he can throw a punch.

Maybe that's what Clare Kasten is picking up. She s shy, quiet, and intense, but she s sought him out. There s no telling what she wants from him.

But Hunter knows enough to sense a secret when it s close. And getting close to Clare is a danger he's ready to face.

My Thoughts:

From the first book, Storm, we know Hunter Garrity as the new mysterious kid who’s always in the right place at the right time. In Spark, he became Gabriel’s partner in crime, confidant and sort-of best friend. But do you know who Hunter really is or what he was before? Well, if you really wanted to know him well, read this novella.

This story happened before the tragic accident that killed Hunter’s father and uncle and before Hunter met the Merrick brothers.  It showed Hunter’s life as a normal teenager, his first love and his relationship with his father.

We know that Hunter used to be bullied when he was young, that’s why he studied self-defense. But what we didn’t know is that he was terribly bullied that he constantly changes his route home in order to avoid the bullies. He doesn't want to cause any trouble so he only fights back when it’s really necessary. He didn't even try to scare those bullies with his ability. He’s not the type of guy who constantly beat people up just because he can. He’s not shallow like that and I love that about him.

Hunter also met a girl here and their first meeting was an interesting one. Hunter thought that she was one of the bullies because she's following him. So when she went closer to him, he accidentally flipped and pinned her to the ground. It was a hilarious scene you would want to miss.

Overall, this is an awesome novella that will excite you for the upcoming book in the Elemental series, Spirit. I recommend this to every fan of the Elemental series and if you haven't read of this series, then what are you waiting for? Read it NOW!
