Book Review: My Ex From Hell

Friday, April 26, 2013
Title: My Ex From Hell (Blooming Goddess #1)
Author: Tellulah Darling
Genre/s: Young Adult, Fantasy, Mythology, Romance Comedy

Synopsis:

Sixteen-year-old Sophie Bloom wishes she’d been taught the following:

a) Bad boy’s presence (TrOuBlE) + teen girl’s brain (DraMa) = TrAuMa (Highly unstable and very volatile.)
b) The Genus Greekulum Godissimus is notable for three traits: 1) awesome abilities, 2) grudges, and 3) hook-ups, break-ups, and in-fighting that puts cable to shame.

Prior to the Halloween dance, Sophie figures her worst problems involve adolescent theatrics, bitchy yoga girls, and being on probation at her boarding school for mouthy behaviour. Then she meets bad boy Kai and gets the kiss that rocks her world.

Literally.

This breath stealing lip lock reawakens Sophie’s true identity: Persephone, Goddess of Spring. She’s key to saving humanity in the war between the Underworld and Olympus, target numero uno of Hades and Zeus, and totally screwed.

Plus there’s also the little issue that Sophie’s last memory as Persephone was just before someone tried to murder her.

Big picture: master her powers, get her memories back, defeat Persephone’s would be assassin, and save the world. Also, sneak into the Underworld to retrieve stolen property, battle the minions of Hades and Zeus, outwit psycho nymphs, slay a dragon, rescue a classmate, keep from getting her butt expelled from the one place designed to keep her safe …

… and stop kissing Kai, Prince of the Underworld.

My Ex From Hell is a romantic comedy/Greek mythology smackdown. Romeo and Juliet had it easy.

My Thoughts:

I’ve been a fan of Tellulah Darling ever since her debut novel, Sam Cruz’s Infallible Guide to Getting Girls so when I found out that her new novel was available for review, I immediately sign up. And I’m glad I did because this doesn’t disappoint.

Telullah Darling combined Greek Mythology, romantic comedy and kick-ass myth creature fighting scenes to create a young adult romantic adventure of epic proportion. If that doesn’t excite you to buy this book, well you’re going to miss out on all the fun.

Met Sophie Bloom, a 16-year old girl who thought that she was human but apparently, she’s not. She’s actually the reincarnation of Persephone the Goddess of Spring and she recently unveil that secret when she kissed Kai, son of Hades and Prince of Underworld. And with that kiss also comes a great threat not only to her sanity but to her life as she discovered that the two of the most powerful gods of Olympus is trying to kill her.

I can't stress enough how much I love this book. Sophie Bloom is now at the top of my favorites. She's just so hilarious yet unbelievably bad-ass and Kai, well, I would love to save humanity with him anytime. The awesomeness of this book is of the hook. From the narration to the dialogue even to the title of every chapter, there's no dull moment with this book. This is hands down amazing.

This book is perfect for those who love mythology, romantic comedy and action-packed adventure. So what are you waiting for? Grab this book NOW!
